What To Expect

AT A PALMDALE CHURCH WORSHIP GATHERING

  • Worship at Palmdale Church follows a structured liturgy influenced by Scripture, history, and tradition. It involves prayer, singing, confession, thanksgiving, preaching, and the Lord’s Supper. Services are designed to help the whole congregation actively participate in the story of God. As a guest, we invite you to join in as much or as little as you feel comfortable. A more detailed example of our liturgy is listed below.

  • Palmdale Church loves children and values them as members of the congregation. Children worship alongside their families in the main gathering. Kids are welcomed as full participants in congregational worship, and the church provides children’s resources, including kid-friendly bulletins and discipleship support for families.

  • Palmdale Church’s worship is reverent, Scripture-centered, and participatory. Music is chosen to support congregational singing. Our focus is on spiritual formation through God’s Word, the presence of God in the Holy Spirit, and the worship of the gathered church.

  • We do not have a dress code. Many people dress casually and comfortably, though some will dress more formally. On occasion, Palmdale Church meets in parks or other public spaces, so practical clothing suited to the weather is encouraged.

  • Worship gatherings typically last around 90 minutes, though some feastal services may be longer or shorter.

  • Palmdale Church holds to the 66 books of Scripture as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We affirm the Apostle’s Creed and reasonably accept the Baptist Faith and Message (2000). Please see our ‘We Believe’ page for more details.

  • You will be warmly welcomed, whether you come alone or with family or friends. Guests are free to observe quietly or engage at their own pace. No prior church experience is expected.

  • You will likely be greeted before or after the service, but you will not be called out or put on the spot during worship. Participation in singing, responsive readings, and prayer is invited, but not required. You are also welcome to observe, listen, and engage as you feel comfortable.

  • If you want to connect more deeply, you can fill out our connection form here: [LINK TO FORM] or speak directly with one of our deacons or staff before or after the service. Opportunities to get involved include small groups, serving, discipleship, and church membership.

  • You can explore past sermons on our Media page and on our YouTube channel, @palmdaleChurch. Below, you can also preview our liturgy format to get a sense of what a typical service looks like and how worship is structured. Palmdale Church does not livestream entire services, as we believe the Church is fundamentally expressed through the in-person gathering of God’s people.

Liturgy

Liturgy means public service. In the church, it refers to the arrangement of the worship service as directed by the church elders and worship leaders. Our general Liturgy is as follows:

We invite guests to participate through singing and responding as they feel comfortable. You are also welcome to observe, but we encourage you to follow along with the liturgy booklet.

Call to Worship

The Call to Worship is a question-and-response. The Leader will read the portion of the Scripture labeled LEADER, and the congregation will read the portion labeled PEOPLE.

If you are a guest with us, please join us as you feel comfortable.
