INFESTATION — Jude 3–4
Contending for the Faith Once for All Delivered
Jude writes with urgency to call the church to contend for the faith — not reinvent it. From the very beginning there has been one historic, apostolic, common salvation delivered to the saints. But Jude warns that “certain people have crept in unnoticed” — an infestation of ungodly teaching and immoral living that threatens the purity of Christ’s church.
Jude confronts not merely false teachers from pulpits, but churchgoers who claim the Gospel while refusing the Lordship of Christ. The church is called to vigilance — to resist infestation — by returning to the faith once delivered, clinging again to Christ and His rule, and walking in holiness.
