The Fall of God's Enemies
The Fall of God's Enemies | Psalm 20
The entire opening of the Psalm is a petition for Yahweh, the God of the Israelites, to do what he has promised to do for Israel through David—that David would have victory in battle, conquering the Lord’s enemies. And though the Church doesn’t have armies that go out to battle in the literal/technical sense that the nation of Israel had, we still face opposition all the time. So, we pray for victory, believing the opponents of God will eventually fall.
Psalm 20 shows us four reasons that opponents of God fall. This Psalm should give us hope in Christ’s eternal victory.
1️⃣ Opponents of God Fall Because Pride Sets Them Against His King
2️⃣ Opponents of God Fall Because Human Strength Is Temporary
3️⃣ Opponents of God Fall Because God Raises His People
4️⃣ Opponents of God Fall Because God is King
Even in seasons of opposition and uncertainty, we can celebrate in advance, knowing that God’s King has already secured the final victory.
