📖 Immorality – Part 1 | Jude 14–16 | Palmdale Church

In this first part of our study on Jude’s warning against immorality in the church, we look closely at Jude 14–16 and his surprising use of a prophecy from 1 Enoch. Jude calls the church to contend for the faith once delivered, and he exposes the danger of allowing certain forms of immorality—not simply private sin, but celebrated, justified, and doctrinally defended sin—to take root within the people of God.

Jude points back to Enoch, “the seventh from Adam,” who saw in his own ancient day the same rebellion rising up in Jude’s time—and now again in ours. Though 1 Enoch is not Scripture, Jude uses it the way we might reference Narnia or The Lord of the Rings: as an illustration that helps reveal biblical truth. Enoch’s vision anticipates the Lord coming with “ten thousands of His holy ones” in judgment, and Jude applies this warning to those who bring immorality into the church and call it righteousness.
