Intrusion
Intrusion — Jude 11–13 | Palmdale Church
In this sermon, we explore Jude’s sobering warning against those who intrude upon Christ’s Church—people who claim the name of Jesus yet live in defiance of His lordship. Jude points to three Old Testament figures whose lives illustrate the danger of rejecting God’s authority: Cain, Balaam, and Korah.
1. The Way of Cain
Cain’s offering revealed a heart that refused to honor God with firstfruits, choosing self-sovereignty over submission. To “walk in the way of Cain” is not to deny God outright, but to dethrone Him—living as though our desires outrank His commands.
2. Balaam’s Deceit
Balaam knew God’s voice, yet abandoned himself for personal gain. His counsel led Israel into sexual immorality, illustrating how false teachers can infiltrate God’s people under spiritual pretense. Jude warns the Church not to follow leaders who are “prophets for hire,” driven by cultural pressure rather than faithfulness to Christ.
3. Korah’s Rebellion
Korah challenged God’s appointed order, demanding for himself what God had not given. His rebellion—and the catastrophic judgment that followed—shows the danger of calling “holy” what God has called unholy. Jude reminds us that the Church cannot declare righteous what God has clearly condemned.
