Open Churches in Palmdale, California

Are Churches Open in Palmdale?
Everyone wants to know if churches are open in their area. In Palmdale, California, many churches are open. The pandemic moved most churches into the online sphere through live stream, YouTube, and Zoom services. Sonrise Church, an East Palmdale Church, has remained open in the online sphere–although we have not resumed physical services on Sunday. We do have live in small groups as well as small online groups. Our small live groups utilize social distancing protocols and meet outdoors until further notice.

Very shortly, Sonrise Church plans to open East Palmdale services, however, not in the way that many would think. We plan to hold services in small groups around the valley on some Sundays and on others to hold services in parks and other places where we are allowed to “gather” in a social distance format. Please check back for more information, and as is required during the pandemic, when you attend one of our services, please wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of distance from non-household members.

We continue to pray for the city of Palmdale that the pandemic would lift, that life would persevere and that our city would see that life is a product of the giver of life, Jesus Christ.

On another note, some churches such as Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, are choosing to hold traditional services on Sunday morning and indoors. Some are maintaining social distancing and masks. Others are not. Many are claiming that churches not being allowed to open is a form of biblical level persecution. Sonrise Church, in not holding Sunday Morning services indoors, is not making a statement that other churches are wrong or in sin. We are, however, maintaining that our church in East Palmdale does not need to be open on Sunday to continue to worship the risen Jesus biblically. For that reason, we are not opening traditional Sunday services, although others have chosen to do so, both in Palmdale and around the state of California.

We project that this trend will rise to the level that the state and counties will begin penalizing even lower profile ministries than Grace Community as the pandemic continues. However, there will come a time when monitoring church activity will be impractical, and churches will continue to open without penalty, regardless of what regulations are in place.

All that to say–we have no fear of the state when it comes to our worship. We have respect and reverence as biblically prescribed, but the Lord Jesus Christ does not bow a knee to the state of California or the county of Los Angeles. Therefore, there is no need for concern for Christ’s church. We are a people who strive amid difficulty, and the mission goes forth and bears fruit during persecution. All praise and glory be to Christ, now and forever.

Christ’s church remains open in Palmdale and elsewhere, even if the doors to the physical building remain closed.
